Gold Jewelry

It is important to understand how gold ages along with how you can care for your gold ring over the years. 

Pure gold is 24K and far too soft for a wedding ring. Therefore, pure gold is alloyed with stronger metals to give it the durability that is needed for daily wear. 14K yellow gold is made with 58% gold (14/24ths) while 18K yellow gold is made with 75% gold (18/24ths).

You might think that the less gold, the less prestigious the metal. However,14K gold is more commonly recommended for daily wear over 18K gold because of its increased durability. The more that gold is alloyed with another metal, the less it wears over time. Caring For Your Gold Jewelry:

1. All gold rings and most precious gemstones can be cleaned with warm water, mild dish soap (no detergents), and a soft brush.
2. Don’t use toothpaste, baking soda, and abrasives
3. Always remember to close the drain if you are using your sink
4. Rinse your jewelry in warm water, let it dry completely, and buff it with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth
5. To return the shine of your gold ring please use the polishing cloth we included in your order
6. If needed visit a local jeweler once a year for a professional cleaning with ultrasonic 

Sterling Silver Jewelry

Our Sterling Silver Jewelry is made of high-quality sterling silver. High-quality sterling silver can last for decades if well taken care of. It’s important to clean it and store it properly when not being worn. Silver will also last longer if kept away from harsh chemicals such as lotions, perfumes, hand sanitizers, and many soaps. 

Maintaining your Sterling Silver:

1. Wipe with a polishing cloth: the easiest way to clean your silver! Wipe it with the polishing cloth included with your Tiny Tags order.
2. Keep it away from chemicals: the best way to clean your silver is to prevent it from needing cleaning! Remove your silver jewelry when using harsh cleaning solutions, and keep it away from lotions and perfumes.
3. Take it off when at the beach or pool: Chlorine and salt water are very damaging to silver jewelry, so it’s best to take off your pieces when swimming.
4. Store your silver jewelry in a cloth pouch in an airtight plastic bag, away from sunlight.
5. Another great way to clean your silver jewelry is to soak it in warm water with a drop of dish soap, then rinse and dry with a clean cloth.
